Investor Collective (“we,” “us”) is a private, invite-only community of accredited investors. This policy explains what information we hold, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we never sell your information, and we never share it with sponsors, advertisers, deal operators, press or anyone else. We take your privacy seriously, and your time and attention just as seriously.
Information we hold
- What you give us. Your name, email address and, if you choose, a phone number; your profile (photo, bio, company, links, investment interests and areas of expertise); your accreditation confirmation and your acceptance of our terms, each with the date and version you agreed to.
- What you post. Updates, asks, replies, comments, voice notes and their transcripts, and any photos, videos, links or files you attach.
- What you do here. The people, opportunities, events and topics you follow, the events you register for or attend, and the introductions you request.
- Profiles we prepare before you join. Many members are invited by someone who already knows them, and we may prepare a profile in advance from professional information that is already public (for example a company website or a public professional profile) or that you have shared with us. Some of these profiles are visible to members before the person joins: their name, photo, short bio, company, public links and the opportunities or events they are part of, marked clearly as not yet reviewed by them. Anything we have inferred about your investing interests stays hidden until you confirm your profile. When you first sign in you review all of it and can change or remove anything, and you can ask us to take a prepared profile down at any time, whether or not you join.
- Our own working notes. To run the community, our team keeps internal records about members and people we may invite: notes from our conversations and correspondence with you, how and when we last reached out, and our own assessment of how well the community fits you. These notes are for our team only. They are never shown to other members and never shared outside the team.
- Technical information.Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, Google Analytics (with Google’s advertising features switched off) to tell us which pages are used, and error reports that help us fix problems. Error reports are stripped of cookies, sign-in details and anything you typed before they leave our systems.
How we use it
To run the community: to sign you in, show your profile to other members, deliver the notifications and weekly digest you receive, suggest people, opportunities and events that fit your interests, arrange the introductions you ask for, and improve the service.
How we use AI
We use AI to help run the community, and we want to be plain about how. Our team works with Claude, made by Anthropic, as an assistant: it helps us keep profiles, opportunities and events accurate and up to date, summarize our notes and correspondence, draft messages for us to review, and organize our work. The app itself uses Claude to help structure profile information, and Deepgram to transcribe voice notes.
- Not used to train AI models. We use these services only under terms and settings that do not allow them to use your information to train their models, and we check those settings.
- People stay in charge.Every change the assistant makes to the community is recorded, and publishing something new or sending you an email is always a person’s decision.
- Same rules as everything else. AI tools are service providers like any other: they process information for us and for no other purpose.
No advertising trackers
We do not use advertising or retargeting tools of any kind: no Meta (Facebook) Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no Google Ads tracking, and nothing like them. Visiting Investor Collective will never cause you to be followed around the internet by ads, and nothing you do here is used to target you with advertising anywhere else. The only analytics we run is Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used.
Who can see what
- Other memberssee your published profile and your activity in the community: what you post and reply to, what you like, the opportunities and events you follow or sign up for, and who you’re connected with. What you post privately (a direct conversation, an introduction thread) is visible only to the people in it.
- No one gets a list of members: not sponsors, not deal operators, not press. Event attendee lists are not shared outside the membership.
- Deal operators (the people behind an opportunity) never receive your contact details from us. They hear from you when you ask them for information, or when you choose to post on their opportunity.
- Sponsors may appear in our newsletter, on the podcast or at our events. Sponsorship is placement only: it never includes member information, contact details or attendee lists.
- Service providers. We use a small number of companies to operate the service: hosting and databases, media storage and streaming, email delivery, the email and calendar tools our team works in, AI services, transcription, a professional email-lookup service, analytics and error monitoring. They handle information only to provide those services to us.
- The law. We will disclose information if we are legally required to, and only what is required.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
No spam, from anyone
Everyone who takes part in the community, including members, deal operators, sponsors and press, agrees not to use anything they find here for unsolicited outreach. Anyone who uses the community to pitch or spam members is removed.
Your choices
- Your profile is yours. Update it, change what you share, or take details down at any time.
- Email. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click stops them all; you can still sign in, and you can turn them back on from the same page.
- Your data. You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to receive a copy of it.
Your content is yours, and you can have it deleted
You can ask us to remove you from Investor Collective whenever you like, and we will. When you do, we permanently delete everything tied to your account: your profile, your posts, comments and voice notes, any images or files you uploaded, and the account itself, from the community andfrom the storage where those files live. We don’t simply hide your profile; your information is erased from our systems. It comes off the site as soon as you ask and is permanently deleted within 30 days. When you ask, we also remove you from the other tools we use to run the community. Copies in our routine backups are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
Keeping it safe
Access to member information is limited to the people who run the community, and each of them agrees in writing to keep it confidential. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
For adults only
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we learn that we have.
Where your information is kept
We operate in the United States. Your account, profile and the community’s records are stored and processed in the United States. Photos, videos and files are stored by our media provider in the United States and in Europe (Germany), and are delivered through its network of servers around the world so they load quickly wherever you are. If you join from another country, including in Europe, you have the same choices described above: to see, correct, receive a copy of or delete your information by asking, and to stop our emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them.
Changes to this policy
These promises change only with advance notice to members. If we update this policy, we will tell you before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will show when it last changed.
